If you have a business or are thinking about opening one in the City of Asbury Park. You should consider becoming a registered member of the Urban Enterprise Zone or “UEZ.”

The Business Development Department UEZ was created specifically to help local businesses navigate City Hall and to administer the Urban Enterprise Zone program.

Sylvia Sylvia, Director of the Business Development/UEZ has developed a 5-year plan aimed at enhancing Asbury Park’s reputation, boosting tourism and fostering a “vibrant festival feel” through family centered activities, safety, marketing and promotion.
Becoming a registered business member of the UEZ will allow you to enjoy several incentives. As a registered business member you can charge half the sales tax rate, make tax free purchases on most items for your business, and take advantage of the various business assistance programs offered by the City’s UEZ office.

Below are some examples of the Business Assistance Programs that are currently available. The Façade and Walkway Improvement Program, a Micro Business Lease Subsidy, and Internship Programs. If you are willing to employ an intern for your business, the city will pay the intern’s part-time minimum wage salary for 3 months.

For more information, please refer to the City of Asbury Park’s website under “Business Development Urban Enterprise Zone.” There, you can determine if your business is eligible by viewing the online map. Simply enter your business address to see if it is in the UEZ blue-shaded area. If it is in the blue shaded area, you can establish a “My New Jersey” account and create a premier Business Service account.
