A summer job at Monmouth Park racetrack in his teens provided a special insight into the human-animal bond and a vet’s role in maintaining it. This passion took him to Rutgers University where he worked with exercising horses on high-speed treadmills and studied performance-enhancing drugs. After Rutgers, Thomas moved to the bayou of Louisiana where he obtained a Master’s degree in equine endocrinology from LSU.
Dr. Tom attended Tuskegee University in Alabama for his veterinary training and diversified his animal experience with the addition of cats and dogs; as well as, working at an ER in Birmingham.
After vet school, Dr. Tom completed an internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists; started a house-call palliative care practice; and, worked as a relief doctor at clinics and ERs throughout New Jersey.
He was raised in Long Branch and currently resides in Ocean Township with his family.
