The Asbury Park City Council held its latest meeting on Tuesday, November 25 at 6 pm in the Municipal Building Council Chambers. Both mayors, all council members, and other city officials were in attendance. Although the agenda was light, the council quickly moved through routine business and seasonal community announcements.
A few agenda items included:
- Resolution Approving Special Event Applications
- Resolution Applying for $250,000 in Urban Enterprise Zone funds for a citywide decoration program
- Resolution Approving Payment of Bills
- Resolution Awarding NV5 the contract to develop a Comprehensive Traffic SafetyAction Plan
- Introduction of the 2025 Transportation Update Ordinance
The meeting opened with roll call, a moment of silent prayer, and the flag salute. Recreation Director Leesha Floyd then addressed the council regarding approval for upcoming special events – an item reflected later in the consent agenda.
City Clerk Anthony Cucci guided the meeting into the portion reserved for comments from council members, the City Manager, and City Attorney. Councilmember Ahbez-Anderson and Mayor Moor both wished the community a happy Thanksgiving. Councilmember Chapman wanted to promote the upcoming Christmas Tree Lighting on December 5. Councilmember Clayton also extended holidays and reminded the community to keep those in need in mind, highlighting local organizations running food drives and other support efforts.
Only one resident spoke during public comment – a representative from the Chamber of Commerce. He promoted the downtown tree lighting and the window decorating contest previously discussed at earlier meetings, adding that the Chamber is now accepting judges. He also announced a new date for the Downtown Menorah Lighting.
Following public comment, the council proceeded through the consent resolutions, and the meeting was adjourned.
The next Asbury Park City Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 10, at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chambers.
