The KYDS Movement's 10-Year Vision for Healing-Centered Education
by Mychal Mills & Rodney Salomon
This is the second of a three part series about KYDS organization (Konscious Youth Developement Service). If you missed the first part read it here Part 1. If you missed the second part read it here Part 2.
It’s one thing to start a program. It’s another to live a mission. And it’s something entirely sacred to become the mission, to embody the work every single day, in breath, in stillness, in action, in service.
That’s what KYDS (Konscious Youth Development and Service) has done for over a decade.
It began with a single exhale in a barbershop, evolved into school partnerships and community meditations, and now stands as a movement, a movement rooted in healing, grounded in love, and rising in purpose.
The Ripple Becomes a Wave
What started as a seed planted in Asbury Park has blossomed into a statewide presence, touching tens of thousands:
- 45,000 youth
- 10,000 educators
- Thousands of parents, families, and community members
- 200+ schools and organizations
- Dozens of school districts, community-based partners, and leaders touched by KYDS philosophy
But beyond the numbers is the unseen transformation:
A student who learns to take a breath instead of throwing a chair. A teacher who discovers that healing is not selfish, it’s survival. A parent who finds peace after years of silent pain. A teen who dreams of starting a business, not to make money, but to make change.
This is what KYDS makes possible, communities of belonging where transformation isn’t a solo journey, but a shared awakening.
The Seeds We’ve Planted
The change we seek doesn’t come from a single session. It comes from consistent cultivation, from sacred soil, from systems of nourishment.
Here’s what our partners say:
“I’ve worked in education for 25 years. I’ve never seen anything like KYDS.” – Principal, Central Jersey “Your program helped me not only as a teacher, but as a mother, wife, and woman.” – Educator, NJ Public School “I wish every young person could have access to what KYDS offers.” – Community Member, Wellness Circle
And from the youth:
“I stopped hating myself.” “I found my breath again.” “I learned how to speak without yelling.” “This program made me feel like I was enough.”
These aren’t testimonials. These are testimonies.
A Philosophy That Lives Through Us
At the core of everything KYDS offers is a sacred framework that invites each participant, child or elder, teacher or teen, into a new way of being:
- Embodiment – The art of being fully present, rooted in breath and body
- Transformation – The courage to face what’s been hidden and grow into something greater
- Awakening – The return to your truest self, your highest purpose, your divine design
These three principles are not just ideas, they’re felt experiences in every session, circle, and conversation. They weave communities of belonging where people discover they’re not the only ones on this journey of healing.
At the heart of KYDS’s mission is something we all crave: not just being invited into a space, but being embraced within it. Whether it’s a kindergartener learning how to breathe through big emotions, or a teacher unpacking years of burnout, or a parent finding the strength to heal, we walk with them. No judgment. No performance. Just presence.
Through each gathering, circle, and workshop, we dismantle isolation and rebuild what’s been missing, authentic human connection. Because KYDS’s programs and community events are built on this belief: You are not alone.
And they are passed forward. Each youth trained becomes a peer mentor. Each teacher awakened becomes a guide. Each parent nourished becomes a ripple.
Building What Doesn’t Exist Yet
In 2024, KYDS opened its first Konscious Community Center, a sanctuary of wellness and awakening, a living sanctuary of belonging. It includes:
- Healing technology (PEMF, neurofeedback, light therapy)
- Breathwork & sound healing rooms
- Youth programming & community events
- Nourishing food, clean water, and plant-based meals
- Sacred space for meditation, stillness, and transformation
The Center is the physical manifestation of the mission. A place where healing doesn’t just happen, it’s expected. A place where authenticity is welcomed, vulnerability is honored, and connection is everything.
And it’s only the beginning.
KYDS envisions a future where every community has a wellness center, every school has access to healing-centered programs, and every youth has the tools to self-regulate, self-express, and self-actualize.
The Next 10 Years: Solutions-Focused Vision
KYDS is not waiting on systems to change. We are the system. And we are changing it, breath by breath, circle by circle. The next decade will be built on these foundational solutions:
Expanding Deep Co-Partnerships
Moving beyond single workshops to long-term, sustainable healing models embedded within schools and community organizations. These partnerships will create lasting systemic change rather than temporary interventions.
Training Konscious Educators & Conscious Community Workers
Building the next generation of leaders who understand that healing is not selfish, it’s survival. Creating a ripple effect across schools and neighborhoods through comprehensive training programs.
Scaling Konscious Leadership & Entrepreneurship (KLE)
Launching age-appropriate leadership training for both grades 3–5 and high school, rooted in mindfulness, creativity, purpose, and conscious technology use. Teaching young people to dream of starting businesses, not just to make money, but to make change.
Developing a National Framework
Creating replicable models for holistic education and wellness that can be implemented nationwide, with emphasis on research, community ownership, and policy development.
Amplifying the Presence of Consciousness
Shaping policy around accessible wellness and emotional literacy, ensuring that the presence of consciousness becomes embedded in public spaces, educational systems, and community structures.
We are the architects of something new:
- A world where kids learn to breathe before they break
- Where teachers lead from a place of peace, not pressure
- Where community centers feel like second homes
- Where leadership starts with presence, not performance
A Final Invitation
If you’ve made it this far, you’re not just reading about KYDS, you’re feeling it.
You’re seeing the faces of youth who just need one safe space to exhale. You’re sensing the tiredness in our teachers who’ve given so much. You’re remembering your own story. Your own breath. Your own awakening.
We invite you to walk with us. Join our community. Support our youth. Bring this mission to your school, your circle, your city.
And so we ask you:
Will you invest in healing? Will you be part of the awakening? Will you help KYDS bring this work to every child, every school, every city that needs it?
“We made the observation, so we made it our obligation.” – Rodney Salomon, Co-Founder of KYDS
May this obligation become an invitation, one that we answer, together.
This is only the beginning. And you belong here.
