The mission statement of the Asbury Park Recreation Department is to provide quality recreational programs for the youth of our community and to support and enhance existing programs being conducted by recreational agencies within the city.

Ms. Leesha Floyd, Director of Recreation, has been offering outstanding programming for our youth and adults for the past 20 plus years. Ms. Floyd works with 9 members from the community who are appointed by the Mayor and Counsel to serve on the Recreation Advisory Committee. Together they work with Ms. Floyd sharing ideas that will entertain our residents throughout the year. A favorite is the Halloween Trunk or Treat that is sponsored by the city. Now in its 6th year hundreds of families participate in this event while residents volunteer to decorate their cars and give goodies to the children of Asbury Park.

Every summer children aged 5 to 13 can look forward to experiencing an exciting summer camp. From trips to Great Adventure Amusement Park, to Bronx Zoo, to learning beats and rhymes at the Lakehouse Music Academy, or learning how to swim at the Boys & Girls Club there is always an activity that will bring a smile to the face of every child.
